At Aadi Academy, we believe that education is not just about academics it’s about nurturing young minds with love, values, and understanding. This belief was beautifully reflected in our recent Parent Workshop, led by the insightful speaker, Dr. Chhaya Parekh.
The session began on an engaging note with a fun yet meaningful activity the Balloon Game. Parents were asked to blow up balloons and keep them from touching the ground. What seemed like a playful task soon revealed a deeper message: each parent focused on their own balloon, symbolizing how, in parenting, we tend to concentrate solely on our own child’s needs and journey. This activity served as a wonderful icebreaker and also rekindled a sense of childhood joy among the participants.
Dr. Chhaya Parekh then shared several valuable insights on parenting. She narrated an inspiring story from Mahatma Gandhi’s childhood how young Gandhi once stole something and, overwhelmed with guilt, wrote a letter of apology to his father. This story served as an introduction to the value of Ahimsa (non-violence) and honesty core principles that parents can instill in their children through daily actions and open conversations.
A powerful message that echoed throughout the session was that children learn more from what we do than what we say. If we want our children to grow up kind, honest, and responsible, we must lead by example. As Dr. Chhaya aptly said, “Children are great imitators, so give them something great to imitate.”
She also shared 10 practical parenting tips that offered parents simple yet effective ways to better understand their children, encourage positive behavior, and build deeper emotional connections within the family.
The workshop was filled with laughter, learning, and meaningful reflection. Parents left feeling inspired, supported, and better equipped to face the challenges of parenting with confidence and compassion.
